Talk Therapy
Therapy can provide a time and space free from the clutter of everyday life where you can untangle the feelings and experiences which are causing you difficulties. It can be challenging to open up distressing feelings to another person and I aim to provide a safe space for you to do this based on acceptance, empathy, trust and understanding.
I believe experiencing acceptance and empathy can create an opportunity to be empathic to the self and to nurture self acceptance.
Specialties
I have experience working with adults with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues loss, abuse, childhood sexual abuse, trauma, fear and relationship issues. I am a member of the BACP and my work adheres to their ethical code and guidelines.
I see our therapeutic relationship as central to the process of change. I will listen, think and feel with you as you explore and process your thoughts and feelings about the past and the present.
My Approach
I work primarily from a psycho-dynamic perspective. I feel that we can often find our past experiences and relationships alive in our present, impacting us unconsciously in ways which are no longer helpful.
Sometimes, greater clarity of our past experiences and relationships can help us better understand our current ways of relating. I follow this approach in my own personal therapy.
I offer in person appointments from premises in Edinburgh, Scotland and I work closely with The Whole Works. I can provide online sessions but ideally recommend the majority of sessions are in person. Contact me to arrange an appointment using my email address, removing the spaces.
